Josephine Collective - We Are The Air
Collection: 12" gate fold vinyl, three 12" singles, tour poster, sticker, hoodie
Josephine Collective was a screamo band signed to Warner Bros Music in the mid-late 2000's. Their debut full length album was released in 2008, titled "We Are the Air." Their music was upbeat rock with happy sounding vocals, but ridiculously depressing lyrics. Catchy, whimsical, raw, and hard. Also referred to as "JoCo," the band never really received the full force of Warner Bros marketing or promotional team and eventually sadly disbanded in 2010.

JoCo has been my favorite band since I was 17 in 2008. My bestie and I have matching tattoos with their lyrics. I wanted to rework the album and promotional materials showcasing my passion for both art and their music. The idea was to create a limited edition vinyl album cover, three singles, and supporting promotional materials.

Taking inspiration from the lyrics and vibe of the album, I created a collection of stock photos and some of my own photography and begin to layer them into the artwork. I created a color palette inspired by the album title and pulled through core imagery that evoked the idea of air or flying throughout the collection. For the single covers, I created individual images that reflected a specific lyric of each song. Blending modes and color manipulation were key in the creation of this collection.
